XX: Dear Bobnappers

Dear Bobnappers:

I was there. Where were you?

It is SOOO discourteous to send me an invitation and then not show up for your own event! I was at Edloe for HOURS. waiting for you! You really need to read Miss Manners!

You most certainly will not be receiving any invitations from me!

Sincerely,

Cheyenne Palisades

Off On a Secret Mission

Written 15 October, 2010

Off On a Secret Mission

I fly out of Atlanta tomorrow on a secret mission (visiting friends, spending a month with Sweetie, following a clue about the whereabouts of Bob). I'll be driving most of the day on Sunday and then at a conference for three days. I'm not sure about connectivity, so if I'm not posting regularly through mid-week, I have no internet signal.

The Bob Saga: XIX: Sweetie Jumps

XIX: Sweetie Jumps

Bob's being gone is taking a lot out of us-- me, because I built him, and Sweetie, because she's the muse who caused him to be built.

Sweetie has been so despondent lately I've been keeping a watch on her.

Tonight I followed her to Paris 1900.

Oh, she's heading for the Eiffel Tower. She's going to the top!

That Speck is Sweetie Flying to the Top of the Eiffel Tower
Okay, Let me zoom my camera in. And romantic black-and-white Paris be damned, I'm going to color.

Closer...

There she is! Sweeetie, please don't do anything stupid!

Sweetie, don't stand so close!

Oh, NOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Oh, Sweetie, how COULD you?

Hey, how'd she get back up there?

Oh, wait, this is Second Life! Sweetie falls for diversion! She LIKES falling!

Say, can we just forget all about my little display of hysteria there? Thank you so much!

XVIII: The Money Drop

Sooo, it's midnight and waiting for the Bobnapper. I'm at the clock tower at Edlow. I'm wearing a backpack with one million Lindens in it-- and, just to be safe, a watermelon gun.

I've been waiting a while and no one has shown. I'm starting to get angry.

What's that!? Do I hear a sound?

"Hey, dammit, I did as you said! I have the money and I didn't tell the Lindens. I swear!

Nothing.

Dammit, this is spooky! I get this feeling I'm being watched.

"Come out and get your damn money! And bring proof of life for Bob!

"Okay, I'm going home! I have the money! Please don't hurt Bob!

XVII: Free Bob!

I suppose this blogpost could be interpreted as a slogan to free our beloved Whimsy mascot/deity from the clutches of his oppressor...

... But no! You can get your very own free miniature Bob here on Whimsy. Just touch the historical marker.

These unspeakable postcards arrived today! I've captioned them with the writing on the backs.

Perhaps coincidentally, Sleezy Spinoza was on Whimsy at the time.

XV: Fingerprint Analysis

"Sweetie, I had no idea why you wanted me to drink champagne during a bobnapping interview, but when you asked me in IM to hand my glass to Sleezy, I figured it out. Here it is."

"Oh, yes, we have imprints of the thumb and three fingers."

"I noticed she drinks with her pinkie sticking out," I said. "I wonder why we avatars don't have four fingers like other cartoons."

"Shhh! I'm working!"

"Is that powdered sugar you're using to bring up her prints?

"It might be."

"You're going to lick it off when you're finished, aren't you?"

"Shhh!!" She said. "Now running database analysis on the Torley-Ravenelle FLICKR files."

I said, "I've been meaning to ask you about that database..."

"You can find it here," she said. "Click on the set 'Exploring the World with Torley and Ducky'. And look here, too"

"So, who's Ducky?" I asked. "And shouldn't it technically be called the Torley-Ravenelle-Ducky files?"

"It's... complicated," she said. "Let it rest."

"Righto," I said. It's never wise to press Sweetie for information. Two words: spy training. And another: katana.

"Crap! No match!" she said. "That print on the negatives doesn't belong to Sleezy."

"She could still be Notorious Henchman," I said.

"Possibly, but I don't think so. I'm sure she's involved somehow."

"Well, she HAS been coming here a lot to ride the train."

"Exactly! And what better way to monitor what we're doing!"

"Are you going to fingerprint everybody we know?"

"Certainly not!" she said. "But do remember to hand each and every guest on our lovely sim a complementary flute of champagne. They take prints so well!"

XIV: Finally, the Ransom Demand!

We interrupt this broadcast to bring you to Whimsy and a distraught Cheyenne Palisades. Ms. Palisades, we understand there has finally been a ransom demand for Bob's return.

Yes, Sleezy, one of the postcards delivered on Sunday had hidden writing...What's that? Oh, Sweetie wants me to tell you the ink was lime-mango chutney. What's that?

And that it was delicious.

What did the message say?

Oh, grow up, Sleezy. It's posted at the top of this blogpost.

Neelix, can you point the camera up there? Thanks. And stop grumbling. The cameraman will be back at work tommorow.  He has a sick prim kid. It happens.

As our viewers can see, the bobnapper is asking for one million Lindens.

Gosh, Cheyenne, that's what in real money? About $23 USD?

Close enough, Sleezy.

And do you have one million Lindens?

I can get them. I have rich and influential friends, and I have the dirt on them.

So, are you planning to make the money drop?

Yes, after dark tonight.

Where?

I'm going to have to keep that confidential until the next blog post.

Can't you tell our listeners now? Both of them?

Sorry, Sleezy, I have to stretch this plotline out until Halloween.

Have you informed the Lindens of these new developments?

Let's just say tickets have been submitted. Which of course means the drop will be long past before it comes to the Lindens' attention. Sleezy, will you please hold this champagne flute for me?

Certainly, Cheyenne, and thanks for the exclusive. Now back to our previously scheduled program.
