I've long been a fan of the creations from Jenne Dibou's (?) Mechanical Toy Factory. I once had a conversation there with an automaton that damn near passed the Turing test.
Yesterday Sweetie and I discovered a build high above the Toy Factory's Forgotten City sim. It was a beautiful winter scene with gorgeous off-sim mountains.
We found ourselves high up on a platform.
It was the launch place for a wonderful ski jump.
Hmmm.. Maybe we should try it.
We managed to convince the robot attendant to give us skis and poles.
We weren't dressed for the weather, but what the hell, you only live Second Life once.
Damn, that looks steep!
Maybe we better not-- Sweetie! Wait!
My caution had come too late! Sweetie was racing down the slope.
And she jumps!
105 meters! Unbelievable!
Sweetie's photos of me were much better-- but then she doesn't have to be concerned about protecting my secret identity. I don't have one-- or at last not more than any other avatar in Second Life. Sweetie? That's another story.
Here I go!
I have a bad feeling about this...
I'm flying! I'm flying!
Lean forward, Chey! Keep your skis together!
Hey, I'm pretty good at this!
I'm going for the gold!
Must... stay... upright...
Here I am, waiting for the judges' decision.
I'm still waiting.

For the life of me I couldn't get it to work, I touched, tried to sit, went back and forth to the instructions. Nada
Fayeen, first talk to the automaton to get a set of skis and poles. Wear them, and turn off your AOs.
Next, sit on the skis at the starting gate. Touch the low restraining gate and it will raise. Then just use your arrow keys to move past the dropoff point.
The trick is to have your skis on and then to sit on the skis that rez at the takeoff area. Good luck!
Hello! I love your blog, and the way you write things! It's so funny! I created a blog today, I hope you can go there and check it! :) Maybe we can follow each other too!

Hi, Candice. I'm back in the U.S. after five days away with limited internet access. I'm glad you write my blog and delighted you have made one of your own. Your photos are lovely
Really love the way, the design, graphics, you have made to tell your story. I am just lost into this world with the ski jumper.
