Cheyenne's Proof of Birth

Cheyenne's Proof of Birth

Okay, okay, okay, I admit it-- I was born in Kenya.

Damn, they caught me!

There's a clerical error with the date (which should have been 24 November, 2006), but the certificate is otherwise accurate. I was born in Kenya, took part in the Mau-Mau uprising, and am now domiciled in the U.S., where I was planning on running for President. Now I've been found out I guess I'll have to lower my sights and maybe vie for the CEO spot at Linden Lab.

Everything Uh-Oh!

Everything Uh-Oh!

Torley Linden gives good advice, and I usually heed what he says in his blogs. However, I noticed today that the program Everything (which helps in searches of the hard drive) was dogging my system, taking up as much as 22% of processor time as it ran in the background. Ouchie!

Needly to say, I closed Everything down immediately; my frame rate promptly doubled. Then I loaded MSCONFIG and stopped it from running on startup. Now I think I'll just remove the program altogether. No fast search is worth the performance hit.

What Do You Get When You Cross a Humpback with a Flounder?

What Do You Get When You Cross a Humpback with a Flounder?

Sweetie and I were on a very nice sim last week. The whale sounds were excellent-- but the whale looked like it had been run over by a steamroller.

Sigh. Help Chey stamp out flat prims.

Chey's Impromptu Eshi Otawara Fashion Shoot

First of all, I would like to make PERFECTLY CLEAR this isn't a fashion blog!

'kay, now THAT's settled, let me ask you: could YOU not take advantage of a half-price sale at Eshi Otawara's store?

I didn't think so.

And didn't the Lindens tell you, when you were a brand new avatar, how very important it was to keep your inventory in good repair?

Of course they did!

That's all I was doing-- being a good avi, sorting my new Eshi outfits and putting them in the proper folder (Chey's Clothing > Designers > Fabulous Designers > Eshi Otawara).

I couldn't help it if I happened to do that while standing at my photo booth now, could I?

COULD I?

Of course not.

And in that circumstance would YOU have pulled out your camera?

I rest my case.

Time for a Change

Time for a Change

When I had been in Atlanta four years or so I found myself thinking I should make a change: take another job, move somewhere else.

But then I thought about it. I realized that as an army brat I had been moved every one to four years and that as a young adult I had moved every three to four years in pursuit of my education. Maybe I was feeling it was time for a change because of that history.

And so I didn't make a change. I stayed in Atlanta and at my job. I told myself that when it was time to make a change I would know it. The universe would tell me.

I've been here a while now, and finally the spirit has moved me to make a change.

My change won't be one of residence, but of employment status. This month is the last I ever expect to have a job. My time will be my own.

I don't have a huge nest egg, but I don't live all that large, and my house will be paid for in December; I'm proud to have paid if off in eleven years. I expect I'll be fine. I should be able to travel as I please and do pretty much what I please. It will be a welcome change after all those years of work.

I'm excited.

Helping Myself to a Background

Helping Myself to a Background

The other night I wandered away from the half price sale at the new Eshi Otawara store (I mean, after you buy one of everything, what's the point of sticking around?

Eshi and Crap Mariner were on the roof having a good time, but they were alone and I didn't want to disturb them. So I wandered into a big building close by and found a nice free texture machine.

At the back of the building there was a PhotoLife booth with fabulous moving textures. The machine itself was locked, but I was able to take advantage of the background.

I got a great shot of Sweetie, but I can't publish it, as she is on a super secret mission now.

Okay, I'll tell you where she is. She's helping the Lindens by watching the Rezzables to make sure they don't leave the grid with any prims that don't belong to them.

Whimsy By Night

Whimsy By Night

Lots of folks visit Whimsy with midday set-- but she really shines at night. If you've not seen her at night, come visit.

The photos don't do her justice.

Whimquestrians

Sweetie and I have never considered Whimsy, with its rugged landscape of volcanic islands as particularly suited for horseback riding, but these folks had a good time during their visit Sunday night.

The reason one of the horses is standing in mid-air in the top photo is because it's on an alpha prim I used to screen a phantom sculpty rock.
